Last week, reports suggested that Oneplus
might cancel its partnership with McLaren. The news came when we saw that
Premium Smartphone maker "Oneplus". As it was not listed as a 2020 F1
Partner on McLaren's official website. And now the UK car manufacturer
officially confirmed that their long-term partnership has come to an end. In a
statement to Android authority, the McLaren's spokesperson said:
"Our partnership with OnePlus,
which came to its scheduled conclusion recently, has been a highly successful
collaboration between two iconic and innovative brands. Since the start of this
partnership in 2018, OnePlus has been a supportive, valued partner and we wish
them well and hope to see them in the future".

Oneplus and McLaren had a long journey.
Oneplus 6T was the first phone which was launched back in 2018. And that was
the time when Oneplus and McLaren joined their hands and launched a limited
edition Oneplus 6T McLaren edition phone. That was the time when these special
McLaren edition devices created hype among the tech community. After a year
they launched special edition Oneplus 7T Pro. Both of these phones had toped-up
specs, attractive designs. And even special in-built themes from their vanilla
versions. Thus this makes the McLaren edition Oneplus 7T Pro the last commercially
available device in the market.

The last device which we saw from Oneplus
and McLaren collaboration was a concept phone. It was showcased during CES 2019
event. This phone was called "Oneplus Concept One". It was basically
a prototype device with a McLaren logo on the back and with a orange leather
finish on the back. The McLaren even supplied them with
"chromaticglass" for the concept One camera module. This glass is
found on most modern Sports car and are made by McLaren. And this makes the
Oneplus Concept One the last non-commercially available device ever.

What will Happen now?
Donot worry as Oneplus will release its
special edition phones as usual, cancelling a partnership with one company
doesn't mean they will not release a limited edition phone. As Oneplus will
soon look for other big companies. But this year it will not be the same. They
will release the special edition version for Oneplus 8 Pro. Anyways what are
your thoughts on this Oneplus and McLaren partnership. Let me know in the
comments!
